Cursor

Cursor is an AI code editor (VS Code fork) developed by Anysphere (San Francisco), launched in March 2023. It combines deeply integrated large language model capabilities from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and xAI with a VS Code-style IDE experience. It enables writing, editing, refactoring, and debugging code using natural language.

Key components include: the multi-file Composer agent (Agents Window), Tab change prediction, semantic repository indexing (Codebase Indexing), built-in UI browser, Bugbot (automated PR review), and CLI. Cursor supports MCP (Model Context Protocol), custom Skills, and Hooks. Available on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

The Hobby plan is free; Pro costs $20/month, Business $40/seat/month. SOC 2 Type II certified, with SAML/OIDC SSO and AWS infrastructure.

Without Privacy Mode, code snippets may be processed temporarily.

Privacy Mode: OFF by default on Hobby, available on Pro and Business. On Business, Privacy Mode is ON by default for the entire organization. TLS 1.2+ encryption in transit; AES-256 encryption at rest (AWS). No HIPAA/GDPR formal certifications (status: March 2026).
