How it works

A lightweight module with a microcontroller, battery or cell and electrodes is attached to the insect’s body. Electrical stimulation of the antennae or muscles triggers motor responses (turning, forward motion). Increasingly, control is assisted by an algorithm, and even a closed feedback loop with sensors.

Problem solved

Miniature robots have limited energy autonomy and agility; using a living insect provides efficient locomotion and long operating time.
