Google DeepMind

Founded 2010 · London, United Kingdom

Google DeepMind is one of the world's foremost artificial intelligence research laboratories. The organization was established in 2023 through the merger of the London-based DeepMind laboratory and the Google Brain team.

DeepMind was originally founded in London in 2010 by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg, and Mustafa Suleyman. The company gained global recognition in 2016, when the AlphaGo system defeated the world champion in the game of Go — an event regarded as one of the most significant milestones in the history of artificial intelligence.

Google DeepMind focuses on developing artificial intelligence systems capable of solving complex scientific problems and advancing technologies directed toward artificial general intelligence (AGI).

One of the organization's greatest achievements is AlphaFold — a protein structure prediction system that has significantly accelerated biological and pharmaceutical research. AlphaFold has been used to predict the structures of nearly all known proteins.

The laboratory is also developing the Gemini family of models — a new generation of multimodal artificial intelligence models integrating text, images, video, and code.

Google DeepMind additionally conducts extensive research in reinforcement learning, robotics, and AI systems capable of operating in physical environments.
