Pollen Robotics
Founded 2016 · Bordeaux, FrancePollen Robotics is a French robotics company headquartered in Bordeaux, founded in 2016 by Matthieu Lapeyre and Pierre Rouanet — two former researchers from the Flowers lab at INRIA, where they co-created the open-source Poppy Project robotic platform. The company commercializes the Reachy family of humanoid robots with two 7-DOF arms inspired by human anatomy, designed to be open at both the hardware level (CAD files, BOM) and the software level (Reachy SDK, ROS 2 integrations). The robot is used in research on manipulation, teleoperation, and human-robot interaction, with customers including universities, research labs, software companies, and Hugging Face. On 14 April 2025 Hugging Face announced the acquisition of Pollen Robotics, integrating the team and the Reachy platform into its ecosystem of open AI tools with the stated goal of advancing open and accessible robotics.
