Grok-1
xAI first open-source model with 314 billion parameters. Mixture of Experts architecture (8 experts, 2 active per token), 64 layers. Released under Apache 2.0 in March 2024.

Grok-2
xAI second-generation flagship model with multimodal capabilities and image generation via FLUX by Black Forest Labs. Weights available on HuggingFace (~500 GB, 42 files). Requires 8× GPU with >40 GB memory each.

Grok-2 Mini
A smaller, faster variant of Grok-2 from xAI. Offers a balance between response speed and quality at lower compute cost.

Grok 3
xAI third-generation flagship model, trained on the Colossus supercomputer (200,000 GPUs). Features Think mode (reasoning), DeepSearch and DeeperSearch. API: $3/$15 per 1M input/output tokens.

Grok 3 Mini
Smaller, faster variant of Grok 3 from xAI with reasoning capabilities (Think mode). Released alongside Grok 3. Per Wikipedia, this model is now marked as discontinued.

Grok 4
xAI fourth-generation flagship model with native tool use (function calling) and real-time search integration. Available in standard and Heavy (SuperGrok Heavy) tiers. Released July 9, 2025.

Grok 4.1
Incremental update to Grok 4 with improved reasoning, multimodal understanding, and reduced hallucination rates. Fast variant (2M token context) available for agentic workflows. Released November 17, 2025.
