Founded 2022 · San Francisco, United StatesAnysphere, Inc. is an American software company headquartered in San Francisco, founded in 2022 by Michael Truell (CEO), Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark, and Aman Sanger — four MIT students. The company develops Cursor, an AI-powered code editor built as a fork of Visual Studio Code that integrates large language models directly into the development environment. Cursor supports models from Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and other providers, and Anysphere also develops its own specialized models. The product is offered under a freemium model with paid plans: Pro, Business, and Enterprise. The company publicly launched Cursor in March 2023. In January 2025, Cursor surpassed $100M ARR — widely reported as one of the fastest such milestones in SaaS history. In November 2025, following the close of a $2.3B Series D round at a $29.3B valuation, the company announced it had exceeded $1B ARR. In December 2025, Anysphere acquired Graphite, a code review tool valued at approximately $290M. The company employed around 150 people as of August 2025, and reportedly more than 300 following the November funding round. Co-founder and CTO Arvid Lunnemark departed the company in October 2025 to found the research institute Integrous Research.
