Databricks, Inc. is an American software company founded in 2013 in San Francisco by the original creators of Apache Spark from UC Berkeley AMPLab. The company pioneered the data lakehouse architecture, combining features of data warehouses and data lakes. Its flagship product, the Data Intelligence Platform, enables data engineering, machine learning, and generative AI in a single ecosystem. In 2023, Databricks acquired MosaicML for approximately 1.3 billion USD, forming the Mosaic AI product line. In December 2025, the company reached a 134 billion USD valuation following its Series L round.
