Amazon.com, Inc. is an American technology company incorporated in Delaware, listed on the NASDAQ exchange under the ticker symbol AMZN. Founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos as an online bookstore, it has grown into one of the largest technology and commerce entities in the world. The company operates through three main segments: North America (retail and services), International (overseas sales), and Amazon Web Services (AWS – cloud services). In 2024, it recorded revenues of $638 billion, of which AWS generated $107.6 billion. Amazon is one of the world's largest employers, with approximately 1.556 million employees at the end of 2024. In the field of AI, the company develops its own foundation models (Amazon Nova), AI chips (Trainium, Inferentia), the Amazon Bedrock platform, and the Alexa assistant. Amazon operates an extensive robot fleet across its fulfillment centers (Proteus, Sparrow, Vulcan, Robin, Cardinal, Hercules). The company is a strategic investor in Anthropic (at least $8 billion) and OpenAI ($50 billion, announced in February 2026).
