The company pioneered reusable orbital rockets — Falcon 9 is the first operational reusable orbital-class rocket, and Starship is being developed as a fully reusable super-heavy lift system.
Its primary headquarters has been Starbase, Texas since 2024, with key sites in Hawthorne (California, manufacturing and offices), McGregor (Texas, engine testing), Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg (launch operations), and Redmond/Bastrop (Starlink). SpaceX has flown 400+ Falcon missions, delivers crew and cargo to the ISS under NASA Commercial Crew and Cargo contracts, and operates the Starlink global LEO broadband constellation.
The company employs roughly 13,000 people (2024) and was valued at approximately USD 350-400 billion in 2024-2025. SpaceX is privately held. It also hosts part of xAI's compute infrastructure.
